My wonderful Charlotte Yarn family,
I wanted to share some personal news that I know is hard to hear, but I also know you would want to know. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in September. Hearing the word “cancer” is scary, but I want you to know that I am okay, and I will be okay. I am fortunate that it was caught early, and with treatment I have very strong odds of recovering and am very hopeful it won’t return in the future.
I’m preparing for surgery soon — a lumpectomy on Wednesday, October 28th. After that, the plan is chemotherapy and then radiation. Even with all of this ahead, I want you to know that I currently feel good and very positive about this journey that so many women face. It is an unfortunate journey, but many women come through it feeling healthier, stronger, more loved, and deeply appreciative of life and the people around them.
The Charlotte Yarn family has been hit hard these past few months, with the passing of our beloved Tasia and now my news. Life can be hard and cruel sometimes, but as long as we stay together, we can get through the rough times.
I’m not sure how often I’ll be in the shop over the next few months, but I’ll be there whenever I feel up to it. I kindly ask for your understanding, patience, and flexibility with any shop needs you may have. The staff is working together to make things easier for me, but they will also feel the pressure of my absence. Julie will carry most of the daytoday responsibilities, so please allow her a little extra time to get back to you; she will be extremely busy and learning new things. We will also have newer staff on site who are still learning.
I am truly blessed to have such amazing customers. I know many of you will want to ask how you can support me. The only thing I can think of is to keep me and Ava in your thoughts and send positive vibes our way. There is nothing more you need to do; you’ve already supported me by helping make Charlotte Yarn what it is today.
Thank you all so much. I love every one of you.
Remi
P.S. I’ve cut my hair very short in preparation for starting chemotherapy. I wanted to share my new cut so it doesn’t catch you off guard when you see me in the shop. It’s a big change, and I know it can be surprising.
