Bijar rugs are known as the “iron rugs of Persia”, featuring 2-3 wool wefts packed VERY tight giving the rug a firm—not floppy—handle.

Quality wool from happy yet rugged mountain sheep. Rich in lanolin—shiny, durable, stain-resistant.

Bijar rugs are village rugs with tribal design and roots, each rug being distinct and having charm and timeless humility. Woven by Kurdish peoples.

They feature quality dyes and distinct colors. Kurdish weavers weren’t afraid of mixing earthy colors, and the reds used tended to be more pink/orange.

This Bijar is a fine example of the achievements of this rug-weaving tradition: firm foundation, delightful natural dyes, and detailed weaving achieved by fine knotting.

This rug sports a naivety in drawing that has made these village rugs so sought after. This rug will not disappoint, and would do well in a foyer, entry, kitchen, link, or at the end or side of a bed.
