I’m officially down 15 lbs since January 6! But don’t worry, this isn’t a bragging post, this is more about gratitude and privilege.
I’m grateful to have the privilege of having a healthy body that can move how/when I want it to, free from illnesses or injury. I’m privileged to have great healthcare through my employer. I’m privileged to have access to healthy, fresh produce. I’m privileged to have a space in my home where I can workout. I’m privileged to have the funds to spend on protein to (attempt to) hit my macros. I’m privileged to have a boss that encourages me to move my body while at work. I’m privileged to afford workout equipment and a membership to work out with and .
When I see all these influencers jumping up and down about dyes, it’s almost maddening. Yes, we absolutely should eliminate them from food. I totally agree. But the real way to “make America healthy again” isn’t just by eliminating these in already unhealthy food. It’s about allowing people access to healthcare and healthy food through programs like Medicare, Medicaid, and SNAP benefits. It’s about addressing the huge issue of food deserts in this country. It’s about education. It’s about creating safe spaces for people to move their body in ways they enjoy. It’s about advocacy from those of us who are privileged enough to not struggle with these things. It’s about so many more societal issues but for now I’ll get off my soap box. ✌🏽 Keep working hard for yourself and others, guys!
