It’s been a long time since I’ve introduced myself and I also wanted to share my pottery journey this time so I put this little slide show together!

Hi I’m Elyse! I’m 32 and started pottery almost 10 years ago at my community college. I took my first pottery class after being stressed out from school, my degree was in political science and I thought I wanted to be a lawyer.. I know.. yuck! Needless to say it was love from first pinch pot.

I used to feel a lot of shame about not finishing my degree and spending so much time at a community college, but now I’m happy I did and learned as much as I did about all aspects of ceramics, not just the fun parts. I also had an incredible instructor who went in depth into the business of ceramics, shout out Lance!

Since the beginning of my ceramics journey I’ve had many amazing things happen, opportunities come and met so many amazing people through this art.

My biggest piece of advice is to never stop learning when it comes to your craft. There’s always new techniques to learn and skills to have, and my second piece of advice is to buy as much equipment and tools as you can second hand. You don’t need a lot of money to set up a home studio as long as you’re resourceful and patient when it comes to shopping online marketplaces.
