What a beautifully realistic sentiment!
Letâs talk about something real for a momentâThe emotional conflict between our values and our lived realities is something that deserves grace, not guilt.
Many of us were drawn to Earth-based spirituality because we believe in protecting the planet⌠honoring the land⌠living in tune with nature.
But weâre also living in a world of plastic packaging, digital noise, and endless convenience.
Weâre parenting in a time when screens are everywhere.
Food is wrapped in single-use plastic.
Schools send home flyers for fundraisers filled with plastic trinkets.
And when we go camping or hiking with kids in tow, sometimes the âeco-perfectâ choice just isnât the most practicalâor the safest.
We're navigating new waters with no roadmap.
We didnât get to see how our parents wouldâve handled these things when we were children.
Weâre winging it. Weâre trying our best.
And given the temptations and contradictions of todayâs reality? I think weâre doing a pretty damn good job.
Weâand our childrenâdeserve far more credit than the tired âkids these daysâŚâ insult.
I hate using plastic water bottlesâŚ
But when Iâm out in the woods with tired, hungry, wild little ones? Hydration wins.
I hate using chemical fire starters...
But if itâs survival vs. eco-friendliness in the moment, I choose my family first.
I hate how much screen time creeps into our daysâŚ
But sometimes, putting on a movie or a game is the best way I can relax and connect with my family.
I compost most of our food scraps with careâŚ
But there are rushed mornings and freezing nights when I just toss it in the trash because walking to the compost pile isnât realisticâand thatâs okay too.
And you know what?
That doesnât make me less of a pagan, a witch, or an Earth protector.
It makes me human. A mother. A realist.
A bridge between two worlds.
Living with intention isnât about never making a less-than-ideal choice.
Itâs about holding the Earth in your heartâeven when your hands are full.
Itâs about teaching our kids that progress isnât perfection.
You can still show up to clean a trail, plant a tree, recycle what you can, share a tip, say a blessing over the landâ
And then stop at the store for a convenience item because youâre exhausted.
The Earth doesnât need our guilt.
She needs our love. Our effort. Our awareness.
And our willingness to try.
Please know:
You belong here.
The little things do matter.
Youâre doing enough.
You are enough.
Letâs walk this new path of imperfect Earth magicâtogether. đ
