So here is the finish custom build, this one had been kicking my butt for the last 2 weeks, lots of problem solving as the build was happening, for 90% of it I was making up on the fly, but problem solving is part of the game. I knew what I wanted in it but what we have in mind and what reality can at times be different.....
It is a full blackstone outdoor cook center.
Challenges and my solution of outdoor cooking
1 - wind - give uneven heat if you can even heat the surface in the first place.
Solution, windguards - the open wood cover is the rear guard, 2 removeable side guards and a flip up front guard that doubles as a ledge.
2 - lugging all the cooking stuff out
Solution - lots of storage space with full open trays so no digging in the back. A large pantry style slider unit on the left side.
3 - changing out the tank is a game of getting under and twisting,
Solution - full opening tray, slides out and full open access
4 - not enough prep surface
Solution - an extending slider for more surface space, shelving on the back, and an integrated hardwood end grain cutting board
5 - never any space for the water and oil squeeze bottles and paper towels
Solution - a blackstone cooking storage tower.
6 - cook centers look lame and not very cool
Solution - diamond plate for heat shielding and a cool functional wood design with a curved top cover.
Yes I am very pleased with how it turned out...... it was a challenge but there were many happy accidents (Bob Ross) along the way.
What can I create and make for you today?
