"Hello! My name is Fragle. My favorite thing to do is overthink. I like to analyze all of the possible problems that could come up. Even if it has never happened or even been imagined before. I will imagine it and imagine it and imagine it. I am always misunderstood as I am simply trying to help. I imagine if I see every possibility ahead of time than I can keep us all safe, focused and moving. But somehow everyone I "help" gets frazzled and feels fragile in social events, creating and just well...existing. I mean no harm, I grew all these eyes and put up warning tape so hopefully I will be understood someday. I am a bit twisted and bent, but let's just laugh at my imaginations. What's the worst that could happen?"

My ugly creature project and its story.

This past Saturday I was able to facilitate a workshop at our local library for the teens. We created an ugly creature, we named it and we wrote its story. Not every creature was evil, in fact most were just trying to keep their people safe. It was such a fun time creating, laughing, and sharing deep experiences. We broke the rules of art classes and we made something ugly, crooked and weird on purpose. Can't wait to do it with the adults next.

When I set out to become an artist fresh out of college, I pictured endless hours of inspiration and creativity in the studio, producing massive amounts of art, and selling my work in galleries around the world.

Reality often clashed with this ideal (surprise!) through seasons of life changes, raising kids, and working in nonprofit and ministry world. Although my romanticized vision of being an artist has changed, the passion to create beauty in a broken world has never wavered.

If I could go back in time, here are some things I would tell my beginner artist self:

🔹Full time art is a business, requiring many non-artsy abilities.

🔹You will use math a lot in art! (Sorry math haters!)

🔹As much as you want the art to speak for itself, you still have to talk about your art.

🔹You are your best source material: refer back to older work to remind you what inspires you the most.

🔹Making what resonates with YOU is going to be your strongest work. Quit worrying about trends or what others like and tell your own story.

🔹You will have to do work you don’t enjoy to support the work you do enjoy. (This may seem obvious but I fought it for a long time)

🔹Art is done best in community. Sharing your work with others, getting honest feedback, talking through ideas are essential to keep going.

Me and my daughters were able to join local artist Desiree Brothe at the Laramie County Library System yesterday. She inspired us to create these adorable mini bookshelves. So much fun. I really love being around artists who can make any small thing into something beautiful. So fun!

Success!! What a wonderful group of ladies who joined me for an art encounter. This group chose a spirit led art encounter and we had so much fun encountering God and being surprised by the answers He revealed to each of their hearts. It was so fun to see Jesus moving and I can't wait to do it again. Thank you ladies for the honor.
