Can we talk about how much easier days become when kids actually want to use their space? That was a huge part of Project Wonder Works.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Instead of hiding everything away behind closed doors, we created playful little nooks that felt approachable and exciting for the kids themselves.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The open closet setup makes costumes, dress-up pieces, and favorite outfits easy to grab independently. And nearby, the dance room with the oversized mirrors and ballet barre became another extension of that idea: a space that encourages movement, creativity, and play in everyday life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And honestly, those are the details I love most. When a space isn’t just beautiful, but genuinely makes everyday family life feel smoother, lighter, and a little more fun.

One of the biggest compliments I get from clients is usually something along the lines of, “I never would’ve thought to put these together, but somehow it works perfectly.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And truthfully, that comes from this stage right here. The planning phase before the interior design starts.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m constantly layering materials together, removing options that compete with each other, and making sure the home feels balanced. Especially during a design project, it’s so easy for homeowners to feel decision fatigue. Too many samples. Too many opinions. Too many choices.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Part of my role is filtering through all that noise and creating clarity so the process feels exciting instead of stressful.

I think what I love most about this room is that it feels exactly like Emily and Dan.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Warm, calm, welcoming, and not trying too hard.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They’re in such a full season of life right now—new marriage, baby on the way, busy careers—and they really wanted home to feel softer and slower than the outside world.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So instead of filling the room with statement pieces, we focused on subtle layering. The soft monochromatic palette keeps everything calming, while the textures stop it from feeling one-note. Linen, marble, wood, upholstery, woven textiles…they all build on each other.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And based on Clark immediately claiming the sofa, I’d say the room passed its most important review.

One thing I’ll almost always encourage clients to invest in slowly is art.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not because every piece needs some deep story attached to it, but because the right art changes how a home feels.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It creates emotion.
Movement.
Personality.
Warmth.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And honestly, I’d much rather see a home filled gradually with pieces someone genuinely connects to than walls filled quickly just to “finish” a room.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In my latest blog post, I’m sharing how I approach meaningful art, what I look for when sourcing pieces, and why art is usually one of the most personal layers in a home.

Emily told me this became her favorite room in the house, and I completely understood why the second it all came together.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There’s something about this primary bedroom that immediately slows you down.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The tonal palette feels quiet without feeling boring. The layered neutrals make the space feel soft, and the lighting completely changes the mood at night.

One thing clients tell me is how surprised they are by how many decisions come up during construction, and they’re not small decisions either.

A few inches off on a lighting placement, doorway opening, or ceiling detail can completely change how a finished space feels.

That’s why I’m constantly on site during renovations. Not just “checking in,” but actively reviewing details with trades, walking through plans, answering questions immediately, and making adjustments before problems grow into expensive fixes.

A huge part of my job is protecting the design and protecting my clients from unnecessary stress.

We kept the base of this room really soft on purpose. The walls, the larger pieces, everything stays pretty neutral so it feels calm the second you walk in.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And then we start layering. The pillows, the stools, the rug, the art. Nothing too loud, just enough pattern and color to give it depth and make it feel collected over time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But my favorite part is the gallery wall. Each piece represents a home she’s lived in, which already makes it feel really personal. And then while we were installing, I realized this home wasn’t part of the story yet, so I had one commissioned for her as a gift, and she loved it.

I share a lot here, but the blog is where I go a bit deeper.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s where I can walk you through the thinking behind the work. The decisions, the details, and the small shifts that make a space feel like the client. Things that are harder to explain in a single post.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’ve ever wanted more context, more insight, or just a better sense of how it all comes together, it’s all there.

If you saw the before, you would understand why this one mattered. The space felt tight, a bit awkward, just not fully thought through, and now it’s a completely different energy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This Lincoln Park bathroom feels layered, and honestly a bit like a boutique hotel tucked into a historic home. The walnut vanity grounds everything, the brass details make it feel timeless, and the storage gives everyone their own space to tuck things away.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s the kind of upgrade you notice every single day, especially in those small, everyday moments.

Not going to lie, this is one of my favorite parts of the whole process.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sitting down with samples, moving things around, seeing what works and what doesn’t. Sometimes the one I thought would be perfect isn’t right, and something unexpected comes together even better.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is why I always order samples instead of relying on a photo online. It gives me the chance to see everything in real life, catch the subtle tone shifts, the texture, the details that can completely change how a space feels.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s also where I make sure the decisions we’re making are the right ones for my client, so nothing feels like a guess later on.
