This Samos G bowl is a striking example of radical Italian design, originally conceived in 1973 by Enzo Mari for Danese Milano. This particular piece comes from the Mari-authorized 1997 reissue by Driade Kosmo, distinguished by its use of natural gres—an unglazed grey ceramic stoneware—rather than the original glazed white porcelain. Constructed from rolled lengths of gres layered one over another and fired at high temperatures, the bowl forms a self-supporting structure that is both sculptural and functional. Each example is inherently unique, reflecting subtle variations in the hand-formed elements and firing process.

Who Modern is thrilled to offer this NOS example with its original box. This piece stands as both a collectible design object and a timeless work of art.

This pair of the Costanza table D13 lamps, designed in 1986 by Paolo Rizzatto for Luceplan, represents a refined balance of innovation and tradition in modern Italian lighting design. Conceived as part of the now-iconic Costanza series, the D13 model features a slender aluminum stem and a softly tapered, silk-screened polycarbonate shade that diffuses light into a warm, inviting glow. The lamp’s minimalist silhouette reinterprets the classic table lamp form with contemporary lightness, while its distinctive sensor dimmer allows intuitive adjustment of brightness, reflecting Rizzatto’s human-centered approach to design. As a pair, these lamps create a harmonious and sculptural presence, offering both functional illumination and timeless elegance suited to a wide range of interiors.

Designed by Vico Magistretti for Cassina in the 1970s and enduringly relevant through the 1980s, the Maralunga sofa is a masterclass in relaxed Italian modernism. This example, reupholstered in luscious dark chocolate mohair, elevates the design’s signature informality with a layer of quiet luxury—its plush, light-catching pile emphasizing the sofa’s soft, generous proportions. The ingenious adjustable backrests, which shift effortlessly from low and lounge-like to upright and supportive, speak to Magistretti’s human-centered approach to design, where comfort and innovation coexist seamlessly. Grounded yet indulgent, this Maralunga balances sculptural presence with lived-in ease, the deep, velvety brown upholstery lending warmth and depth while honoring the sofa’s timeless, effortlessly sophisticated character.

The “Jansky” armchair by Bořek Šípek for Driade Italy is a bold example of 1980s postmodern design, blending sculptural elegance with whimsical experimentation. Its fluid, asymmetric silhouette and ornate, almost baroque detailing showcase Šípek’s signature approach; where craft, fantasy, and functionality intersect.
