Do you have this particular mineral in your collection?

This is such a fantastic specimen to collect if you are looking to expand your mineral collecting range.

Although it isn’t the most common mineral out there, I’ve found that plenty of quality thumbnail sized specimens are available on the market.

If you are a collector with a limited budget, don’t worry! There’s definitely a specimen of this for every level of collector and spending limit.

Because the crystals are soft (2.5 on Mohs scale) and brittle, many specimens are going to be smaller and may include a bit of damage to some of the matrix pieces.

If you have the money to spend and are looking for that top tier specimen with perfectly formed crystal clusters, that are large and lustrous, seek out higher end dealers. If they don’t have one on hand, they can certainly point you in the right direction.

✨ Is there a piece you regret not getting?

There’s only one piece that I regret not getting. It was a Kaolinite ps. after agate. It was at a local mineral show. I had just seen one of these for the first time just weeks before from a well known dealer selling one on their website for quite a bit more.

This one at the show was priced within reach for me but was still a bit more than I was looking to spend that day.

It may not have been a sought after fluorite or rhodochrosite specimen… but to me it was awesome. I loved the aesthetic of it.

It’s the only piece I regret not getting because I’ve never seen any more of these. I’m sure they’re out there and maybe one day I’ll add one to my collection 🩷

💎 You want to start or build a mineral and crystal collection?

💎 There are plenty of crystal shops to choose from, but your buying experience isn’t going to be the same with all of them.

💎 Some shops are legitimate business, some are just casual sellers.

💎 There are experienced dealers, novices, and everything in between.

💎 I’ve seen a lot of shady business dealings and unprofessional behavior from crystal sellers, but have also had wonderful experiences with those who value their customers.

💎 It’s a community and industry with a wide range of experience, knowledge, and personalities. But we all really do love rocks!

💎 Although these are just a few ideas to keep in mind, they can help you have a great buying experience 💙

🌹 Rhodochrosites in crystal form are not as common, and are highly desirable; therefore coming with a higher price tag. But they certainly are exceptional.

🌹 If you want to add rhodochrosite to your mineral or crystal collection, but haven’t found the right crystal in your budget, look for the multi colored, multi layered aggregate formations like this sphere.

🌹 Rhodochrosites in these varying layers of crystallization form from filling in veins in metamorphic rock. You can also find specimens as sliced slabs from stalactite or stalagmite formations. These can have lovely concentric rings of glowing rosey hues.
