✨ St. Sebastian & the Rainbow Flame ✨
St. Sebastian became an LGBTQ+ icon in the 19th and 20th centuries, embraced by artists and writers — from Oscar Wilde to Derek Jarman — who saw in his defiant, beautiful, arrow-pierced body a powerful metaphor for q***r resilience, hidden identity, and love that endures persecution.
So we gathered a few old friends:
🚪 An Early 19th Century Belgian Carved Wood Door of St. Sebastian
👼 A Pair of 18th Century Colonial Baroque Polychrome Angels from Guatemala
🕯️ A Large 19th Century Italian Rococo Revival Silver-Leaf Altar Candelabra
I lit every flame. I just wanted these centuries-old witnesses — angels, a saint, and a gilded chorus of putti — to say what they’ve seen all along:
That the sacred and the beautiful have never belonged to only one kind of love.
Happy Pride. Light your own fire. 🏳️🌈✨
