Art can be one of the most intimidating parts of designing a home, but it’s also one of the things that makes a space feel truly personal. In our Colorfully Curated project, we used art in a few different ways: as a starting point, a finishing touch, and a way to weave our clients’ existing pieces into their new home.
In the breakfast nook, we had pitched a painting by E L L E A I C H E. As it turned out, our clients already knew the artist, and were planning to purchase a piece. Sometimes the perfect piece is already closer than you think.
For the living room, the fireplace was calling for something with a little presence that wouldn’t compete with the wallpaper. We worked with local gallery ARTRUSS to explore options, ultimately landing on this graphite piece by Eric Gushee, which plays beautifully with the wallpaper and surrounding artwork.
In the dining room, our clients brought along framed screen prints they already loved. Rather than treating them as an afterthought, we used them to help shape the color palette that flows through the living room, dining room, and entry.
And in the rear family room, a collection of framed prints gathered over the years at local art fairs found a new home, adding another layer of personality and history to the space.
