From Joe’s Bakery in Austin, Texas, this technique is positively genius.

By using a few Test Kitchen tricks (like poaching our shrimp in wine), we created a restaurant-quality scampi with perfectly cooked seafood and a garlicky sauce.

"This raspberry-filled chiffon cake is inspired by the layered fruit and cream cakes in Japanese bakeries—it’s light, airy, and delicately sweet. It’s both visually striking and startlingly deep in flavor..." http://bonap.it/OwnHN3K

A Brief History of Freeling Pot and Pan

Freeling Pot and Pan, a housewares shop, was owned and operated for about forty years in Hyde Park. Her first location was in the original Harper Court. After several years, she relocated the shop to 1365 East 53rd Street. In early December, 2017, Sue Freehling announced the closing of the shop because of her desire to retire. Freehling’s Pot and Pan permanently closed December 27, 2017. Sue still owns the 1365 East 53rd Street building and will probably rent her former shop space to a commercial tenant. I continue to work for Sue managing the building on a part time basis. The second and third floors have 26 rental apartments.

I am continuing the Freehling page with her permission. I hope to continue it with info about the food and restaurant scene in Hyde Park. I hope those of you who have followed Freehling’s on Facebook will continue to do so. I hope to convert this to a Facebook Group soon.
