Not every bathtub follows the same rule.

Most people know the rule: the stone should slope toward the bathtub.

But not every tub is installed the same way.

This is a drop-in bathtub with a decorative waterfall detail on the outside. If we pitched the stone the usual way, water could collect between the tub and the waterfall edge. Over time, standing water can create problems.

In this case, we reversed the pitch intentionally so the water drains away from that joint instead of sitting there.

Good design isn’t about following the same rule every time. It’s about understanding why the rule exists and when it should change.

People often invest thousands into building a balcony, then leave it empty or use it for storage. With the right furniture, lighting, greenery, and a few thoughtful details, it can become your morning coffee spot, evening retreat, outdoor dining room, or even a quiet workspace. Think of your balcony as another room in your home. It deserves the same attention as the spaces inside.

Most people think a small kitchen should stay one color to make it feel bigger.

But two colors can actually work in your favor.

I usually keep the upper cabinets lighter to make the room feel more open, then add a darker tone below to ground the space and hide everyday wear.

The key isn’t using two colors. It’s choosing the right balance.

I was scrolling through old photos today and found this picture from years ago when I was shopping for my son’s first suit.

For some reason, that photo made me rethink this entire living room concept.

It’s funny how inspiration works. Sometimes it’s a trip, a conversation… or a random memory you weren’t even looking for.

This new version feels more layered, more personal.

Or maybe I’ve completely lost it. 😂

One thing this profession has taught me:

Urgency and quality rarely make good partners.

The clients who allow the process to unfold usually get the strongest results. Not because anyone works harder for them, but because good decisions need space.

Less rushing.
Less redoing.
Less stress.
Better design.

Final stretch. Can’t wait to see this one finished.
