Just over an hour from Chicago, the New Buffalo House was designed as a counterpoint to the pace of city life. The result is a place designed to help this family disconnect from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with each other, the landscape, and the slower rhythms of being at home. The home intentionally steps back, allowing the landscape to take center stage. Views toward the river, natural light, and moments of quiet are treated with intention just as any room or finish. Retail design is about creating a place people remember because of how it made them feel. A successful coffee shop becomes part of its community—not only because of what's served, but because of the atmosphere it creates and the experiences it makes possible. Seating offers a variety of ways to gather or work, and every corner is designed to support the rhythm of daily life. We wanted to create a space that feels welcoming the moment you step inside, encourages you to stay a little longer, and becomes more familiar with every visit.

The elegance of finishes tie the whole project together, telling the story of its past and new life as Entertaining Co. HQ.⁠ Our design creates thoughtful, refined insertions within the existing warehouse shell. It uses the exposed brick, wood ceiling joists, and steel trusses as a counter point to the new insertions of modernity, developing a dynamic harmony between them.
