Texture sets the mood. In this second bedroom: fleece on plum bedding, an olive window seat, an upholstered headboard.

Closer in, there is a woven pillow, a houndstooth cushion on a round chair and a wall with a fine grain that catches the daylight. The colors stay in one quiet range, so the textures carry the room.

CI Design + Build at a client’s home: a w**e cellar full of stories from around the world.

We designed this River North cellar around the homeowners’ travels. Glass walls keep the collection part of the living space, every shelf is lit from behind, and a rolling ladder reaches the top row.

A bright high-rise corner becomes a quiet, layered study designed around the view.

Dark oak, black glass, brass accents and a deep green rug ground the light-filled space while keeping the skyline in focus.
