We’re pleased to lend works by Chicago artist Michael Thompson for Kites, an exhibition at the Saint Xavier University Gallery from August 24–September 19. 🪁

Thompson’s extraordinary kites blur the boundaries between painting, collage, and sculpture. Built on split bamboo frames and layered with antique textiles, printed ephemera, calligraphy, and found materials, these works transform a familiar object into something wonderfully unexpected.

Thompson’s kites carry fragments of history, memory, travel, and culture, floating somewhat like a wall sculpture.
