Into the Distance on Crimson is off to a new home, but part of the fun was seeing where it would live! In a fantastic studio/workshop with art covered walls, major machinery for building sets and props, etc. Nice when artists want the work too.

Yesterday I gave this trio of landscapes a resin finish. Tonight they are nearly dry. You can see the before and after process in reverse here.

It’s a big hit to do resin at out house because it involves a blowtorch! 🔥 ranks high on the exciting art-making scale.

This piece “Plush Floral with Gold” is one of my favorites of what I call my Illuminated Florals. The term is a reference to illuminated manuscripts — old texts, which were copied by hand frequently had supplemental decoration added in the borders, lettering and margins. So here there is the richness of the initial floral image and color further articulated by a second layering of ink line work to give the piece more shape and definition.

Trio of small works “Love in Flora 1, 2 & 3” inspired by the blooming plant in my window that doesn’t know it’s 11 degrees out! I used the petals for the ice sculpture and then painted these. Trying to capture the bronze of the leaves with the silver of the ice.
