Spring at the studio 🌼
A season of growth- learning new skills, hiring another (amazing!) team member, starting new projects, and pushing myself creatively and personally. Thanks for all the love and all the support 💕

Custom leaded panels for a client’s home here in Chicago. We installed these into custom built cabinets and I could not be more pleased with how they turned out!! This design was inspired by gothic arches, strong lines, symmetry, and a pop of floral (and we all know I can’t resist the florals). I’m so grateful for the opportunity to bring art into people’s home and to meet and work with people who value the handmade. 🌷

My latest stained glass still life 🌷
This was a commission by the best client who wanted something similar to my past still life pieces, but with an Italian twist, inspired by his partner. It is a joy to create art for people, especially when it’s used as part of a proposal (she said yes!)!
My favorite parts of this one are the garlic and the wire details on the lilies ☺️

Agates and glass look pretty brilliant in the sun ☀️
This was a super fun exploration of more natural colors and a more abstract/gestural style. It’s easy as an artist to feel pressured to only make art in a certain aesthetic, but we’re not machines! The joy is in learning, growing, making mistakes, and sometimes the stars align and something beautiful happens.

The most recent pieces I’ve been working on.

Art never has and never will exist in a vacuum. It is inherently political and the space I’ve built is no different. I’m disgusted every single day with the choices of this administration and the sheer violence and cruelty towards marginalized communities. There is no space for hate, fascism, greed, or abuse here, now or ever.

This week I took a class at taught by on making glass in the hot shop for use in stained glass. I learned how to make sheet glass, rondels, and medallions.
I absolutely LOVED the challenge of the hot shop. From taking my first gather (ever!) on Monday to making some decent rondels to use in my own leaded panel to ending the week using my new skills to make a few cups. I’m feeling really fulfilled and inspired now that I’m gaining some skills to make my own custom glass to use in my art.
Really grateful to be able to invest in my education and keep gaining skills in the glass world. Be prepared for some blown glass art for sale in the shop :)

Two months of practicing and learning about glass fusing!! It was so fun to do a study on this tomato with the Bullseye party glass in the background.
Much much more to learn but really seeing some growth and positive results from trial and error and persistence 💪
