Dear friends, collaborators, and champions of Studio Gild,

After more than a decade building our studio and our shared design legacy, we’re excited to share some personal and professional news: Studio Gild will be transitioning into three distinct, independently led design firms as of April 1, 2025. This evolution comes with nothing but mutual admiration, deep respect, and a shared sense that this is the right moment to step confidently into our individual paths.

We’re thrilled to introduce our new firms: led by , led by , and .co led by . We would love for you to follow all of our journeys on these new accounts as we will be retiring from active posts here.

What started as three friends with a collective vision has grown into a nationally recognized studio, and we’re so proud of what we’ve built together. Now, we’re ready to explore what’s next - bringing new perspectives to our work, rooted in everything we’ve learned and created at Studio Gild.

We are in (and ON THE COVER) of ! ’s clients took their growing family to Chicago’s North Shore for space but found they needed an expert’s touch to bring warmth and character to their new abode. Taking the interiors from an existing farmhouse palette of white and black to a cozier, new-modern traditional style began with closing off walls (yes, closing!) while infusing the space with vintage pieces, soft colors and modern forms.

Pinch us, we’re in ! ’s team had the privilege of transforming this historic 1890s carriage house into a family’s country home. Featuring duel living spaces and an adjacent stable turned guest room, the unique setup allowed our mother-daughter clients to independently co-habitat with family and additional guests as needed. We tapped into the surrounding Hudson design community to source a cohesive blend of antique and contemporary furnishings… and then filled every beautiful inch of this one-of-a-kind abode with our finds.

Such a special space called for very special talent. Thank you to our incredible photo shoot team of and , it was an honor to work with you! And to and , we are so thrilled to have this project shared by – a dream come true! Last but certainly not least, another heartfelt thank you to our trusting clients, the accomplished architect and our incredible Gilder, .

Our Story

Studio Gild is an interior design firm co-founded by Melissa Benham, Jennie Bishop and Kristen Ekeland. With a shared love of clean architecture and subtle beauty, the design collective draws on its principals’ experience in residential, hospitality, retail and commercial design to deliver elevated interiors, foster unique collaborations with artisans and maintain strong client relationships. Having begun their interior design careers in New York City working for industry luminaries André Balazs, Clodagh, Thom Filicia, S. Russell Groves and Ralph Lauren, the trio eventually met in Chicago while working at Kara Mann Design and Simeone Deary Design Group.

Drawing inspiration from fashion, art and architecture, Studio Gild infuses each project with a touch of sophisticated whimsy and endless style. Gilding each project with a fine layer of thoughtful detail is Studio Gild’s trademark – resulting in environments that are curated, provocative and timeless.
