Reinvesting in the Dream 👍🏼

All of this yarn was bought with the money Ian earned from his first rug sales 🤗

Instead of just spending it, he chose to put it right back into his little business so he can keep practicing, learning, and creating new designs. Watching him understand the idea of reinvesting in himself has been such a proud moment for us.
And thank goodness for coupons, right!? 😂 He was really able to stretch his earnings and stock up- which is great because the yarn goes quickly when he’s creating 🤯

More colors = more rugs = more learning ahead 🧶
Can’t wait to see what he creates next!

🚗🦖 First Sales! 🦖🚗

These two cuties — Leo the Truck and the Dino rug — were Ian’s very first sales! 🎉 Unfortunately, I forgot to take a pic of the finished Dino rug :(

Seeing someone choose his work and support what he’s creating meant so much to him. ❤️ Even better? He used the money he earned to buy more yarn so he can keep practicing and making new rugs 🤗🧶

Watching him learn not just the craft, but also how to reinvest in his little business, has been such a proud parent moment. These may be small rugs, but they’re a BIG milestone for him 💙

More fun designs coming soon!

🧶 The Finished ONE PIECE Rug 🧶

Here it is — the finished ONE PIECE rug!
I’m also including a couple photos of the rug before we cut it out from the canvas. Ian hadn’t glued the back of the rug just yet (the part that faces him while he’s working), but he does do this for every rug before cutting them out. Then he lets the glue dry for a day before carefully cutting it out. Once it’s cut out, he trims the edges more neatly and applies a non-slip backing. He also trims the front of the rug to make it all neat and even.

From the first sketch, to outlining, filling, gluing, and finally cutting it free and trimming, this rug was a big milestone for Ian. It’s honestly amazing what just a couple weeks of practice can do. His focus, patience, and confidence have grown so much with each project.

This one was made with a lot of love (for his brother ❤️), and we’re so proud of how it turned out. Watching him bring an idea all the way from canvas to finished rug has been pretty incredible.

What do you think? 🧶💙

🧶 Behind the Scenes of the ONE PIECE Rug 🧶

Before the finished rug came together, there were lots of small steps, patience, and practice behind the scenes. These clips show Ian in the process — outlining, filling in sections, fixing little mistakes, and slowly watching the design come to life.

The videos are very short (clearly I need to work on my filming skills 😅), but they still give a peek into how much focus and effort goes into each part of the rug.

It’s been amazing to see how much he’s learned in such a short time. From understanding the flow of the yarn to keeping his lines clean and consistent, every step has helped him grow more confident.

Finished rug coming up next! 🧶💙

After two weeks of nonstop practice, Ian felt ready to try something a little harder — and he decided to do a ONE PIECE logo for his brother.

What you see here are the first steps of rug tufting:
✏️ Drawing the design
🧵 Then carefully outlining it before filling it in

This part takes patience and focus, and it’s such an important step to get right before moving on. Ian was really excited (and a little nervous!) to try something new!

What do you think — how did he do so far? 😊

I’ll be sharing the final finished rug soon, so stay tuned!

One thing Ian has learned on his rug-making journey:
rewinding the yarn first makes a BIG difference 😄

He quickly found out that if the yarn isn’t rewound properly, it loves to knot and tangle — which means more stopping and fixing instead of creating. So now rewinding yarn is part of the process before he even gets started.

🧶 Rug #3 🧶

This little snowman was Ian’s third rug, made right around New Year’s — and even though I’m just now getting around to posting it, it was too cute not to share ☃️

Each rug he makes, you can see him gaining more confidence and learning something new. From shaping to details, his progress has been so fun to watch, and he’s been so proud of every piece along the way.

Still practicing, still learning, and still loving every minute of it 🧶💙

🧶 Rug #2 🧶

This little smiley rug was the second rug Ian ever made, just a day or two after the first, and you can already see how much he improved from the first one.

With a little more practice, patience, and confidence, things started clicking — and it showed. Every stitch is part of the learning process, and watching his progress even from rug #1 to rug #2 has been so exciting.

He’s been having so much fun practicing and experimenting, and we’re so proud of how quickly he’s learning and sticking with it. Onward and upward from here! 😊

🧶 His Very First Rug 🧶

This was the first rug Ian ever made — and he didn’t even keep it.
He gave it away as a Christmas gift the very next day. ❤️

It may not be perfect, but it was made with excitement, creativity, and a whole lot of heart. Every project is a learning experience, and this one will always be special to us.

We’re so proud of how quickly he jumped in and how much joy he gets from creating.

🧶 The First Day 🧶

Ian couldn’t wait to get started once his frame was set up!
After a few hiccups getting everything together — and a couple of poked fingers (mine, not his 😅) — he was up and at it.

Like most new things, there was definitely a learning curve. He ran into a few snags along the way, and we had to pause, troubleshoot, and watch a few videos to figure out how to fix things. But we did it — and once it clicked, he was officially on his way.

This video shows him getting started, and the photo shows the other side of the frame with his first practice rugs and stitches. These are all part of learning, practicing, and building confidence.

We’re so proud of his patience, determination, and excitement to keep going. This is just the beginning of his rug-making journey, and he’s been happily practicing for days 🧶💙

🧶 Where It All Begins 🧶

Every big idea has to start somewhere.
This is Ian’s rug-making setup — right at our kitchen table.

Ian has been dreaming about turning his art into something he could sell and, after months of planning and waiting, he finally has his frame set up and ready to go. He’s so excited to start learning, creating, and bringing his rug ideas to life.

We’re grateful for all the support as he begins this new adventure. Stay tuned… this is just the beginning of something IANcredible 💙
