A newer breaker box doesn’t automatically mean your home has more power.
This customer called because her oven wouldn’t heat properly—even after she purchased a new one.
When I arrived, I found a 100-amp breaker box connected to the original 50-amp service. My assessment identified approximately 82 amps of continuous load, exceeding the capacity of that service. The panel had been replaced, but critical issues remained unresolved.
The biggest concern was safety. Grounding and bonding provisions were missing, and the homeowner reported getting shocked when she touched her hood vent and oven at the same time. My investigation identified objectionable current flowing on metal parts that should not normally carry it.
There were young children in this home. As a father, that made this especially personal. No family should have to worry about getting shocked while using their kitchen.
SHINE ELECTRIC corrected the issues by installing:
⚡ A 200-amp electrical service
⚡ A 200-amp panel and feed-through service disconnect
⚡ Proper grounding and bonding
⚡ Separation of neutrals and equipment grounds downstream of the service disconnect
The electrician you hire matters. A thorough evaluation considers your home’s electrical demand, service capacity, and safety—not simply the breaker box being installed.
I would love for everyone to choose SHINE ELECTRIC, but whoever you hire, look beyond the cheapest bid. Choose a licensed electrician who can explain what your home needs, what the work includes, and why it matters.
This customer deserved better. Your family deserves electrical work done right.
