A poem I wrote recently.

I Am

I am a pile of ash, Feathers of a newborn phoenix fluttering beneath.
I wonder how my life and self will change with this new form.
I hear the support and hope of my friends and community.
I see the threads of life stretched out ahead, like branches of a tree.
I want to see where my new path leads.

I am powerful and strong enough to handle the coming challenges.
I pretend like I’m not afraid of what’s to come.
I feel anxious and worried about the possible conflicts.
I touch the hearts and souls of those around me.
I worry that my darkness is too large to manage.

I am reassured by my support system that I am not alone.
I understand that being broken doesn’t negate my value.
I say that I’m ok, even when I’m not.
I dream of a bright future where I can spread my wings.
I try to find the light and joy in everyday life.
I hope that I can be enough to fly high as the phoenix.
