Why Is There Condensation on the Outside of My Windows? 🌡️💧
Seeing water or fog on the outside of your windows in the morning?
Don’t worry — it may actually be a good thing!
Exterior condensation happens when warm, humid air comes into contact with the cooler surface of your glass. With today’s energy-efficient windows, the glass does a much better job of keeping the temperature inside your home from affecting the outside pane.
That means the outside glass can stay cool enough for moisture in the air to condense on it.
The simple explanation:
🏠 Inside: Your home is comfortable and insulated.
🪟 Window: Energy-efficient glass helps keep indoor temperatures where they belong.
🌡️ Outside: Cool, humid air meets the cooler glass → condensation can form.
The important part: Exterior condensation is generally not a sign that your window is leaking or failing.
In fact, it can be an indication that your windows are providing excellent insulation.
As the outside temperature rises and humidity drops, the condensation will typically disappear on its own.
