I ran across this little “Poor Vinnie” magnet today and it brought back a memory from the early days of Maymay Made It. 😊

Many years ago, I was invited to teach at an event in Tennessee. We were excited to go, but there was one problem…

We couldn’t afford to shut the store down while we were gone.

Back then, Vince wasn’t just my trusty sidekick. He was shipping, customer service, inventory, accounting, and just about every other job you can imagine.

So we packed up the entire store into his Tahoe and headed to Tennessee.

And when I say the entire store, I mean THE ENTIRE STORE. 😆

We set up shop in our hotel room, and while I was teaching, Vince was packing online orders, printing shipping labels, answering customer questions, and making trips to mail packages. Customers were placing orders in Alabama, and Vince was shipping them from a hotel room in Tennessee!

Looking back, it sounds absolutely crazy.

At the time, it was just what we had to do to keep things moving.

So yes, the Made It’s may have been right…

Poor Vinnie. 😂

But the truth is, I couldn’t have done any of it without him. From those early days to where we are now, he’s always been willing to do whatever needed to be done to help make this dream work.

And for that, I’ll always be grateful. ❤️

Well friends… it’s officially happening! 😊

My studio is finally starting to come together, but as you can see, it’s still VERY much a blank slate.

The floors are down.
The tables are in.
A few pieces of furniture have found their homes.

Now comes the fun part… figuring out the best way to set up a creative space that actually works!

So I’m asking for your help.

If you could give me ONE piece of advice for designing a craft studio, what would it be?

At first glance, this looks like a simple card…

But look a little closer. 👀

Do you see how the little car almost looks like it’s moving down the road?

That effect is created using a technique many crafters call the Eclipse Technique, and it adds so much interest and dimension without a lot of extra supplies.

This was one of the projects we made on Tuesday’s live show, and I had so much fun showing how this look comes together!

Does anyone else do this?

Sometimes I start with a project idea and then go looking for the perfect paper.

But every now and then I find a paper collection that completely changes the rules. 😄

The colors, patterns, and images work together so beautifully that they start giving me ideas before I’ve even decided what I’m making.

Instead of me choosing the project…

The paper chooses the project.

That’s exactly what happened with this collection.

I’m about to dive in and create an entire project inspired by these papers, and I’m going to film the whole process from start to finish so you can see how it develops.

📖 Stories Behind the Stamps

This one has a funny story behind it!

A few years ago, our stamp manufacturer had an unexpected visitor—a raccoon got into their building and chewed through some wires. It caused enough damage to shut production down for a few days.

When I shared with the Made It’s that our stamp shipments were going to be delayed because of a raccoon, they immediately started having fun with it. Before long, they were insisting that we needed a raccoon stamp set!

And honestly? They were right. 😄

So this little guy in the top corner was born straight from the imagination of the Made It’s. What started as a frustrating situation for our manufacturer turned into one of the most unique stamp sets we’ve ever created.

Now, it certainly wasn’t funny for the folks dealing with the damage, and we were all grateful the problem was able to fixed quickly. But once everything was back on track, we had a lot of fun bringing our Frazzled Rascally Raccoon to life.

Sometimes inspiration comes from the most unexpected places—even a mischievous raccoon!

📖 Stories Behind the Stamps

This stamp set was inspired by a Vacation Bible School theme called Created on Purpose for a Purpose, based on Ephesians 2:10.

I remember sitting in one of the closing assemblies looking at a large poster with that scripture on it. One word kept standing out to me:

Created.

As I thought about that word, my mind naturally drifted to crafting.
I love to create.

I love taking paper, stamps, ink, and other supplies and turning them into something that didn't exist before. I love having an idea and watching it come to life.
And in that moment, I realized that one reason I may love creating so much is because I was created by a Creator.

Now, don't misunderstand me. God creating the heavens, the earth, and each one of us is infinitely greater than anything I could ever make. There is no comparison.

But I do think that the desire to create is one of the ways we reflect the image of our Creator.

God is creative, intentional, and purposeful.

That thought became the inspiration for this stamp set.
