Tuesday's a great day to highlight another five-star review from a Karoly customer! Today's review comes from W. Murphy, who was getting new windows and sliding glass doors, all impact-rated:

"I reached out to Karoly for new sliding windows in my florida room and two exterior doors. Karoly came out and spent quite a while getting all the measurements right. That makes you feel good. When the installers came out, two days and done. Windows look great and the doors are solid and close tight. Everything is now impact and hurricane rated. I got my insurance discount. Thanks Karoly!"

What does "Builder Grade" mean for windows? It's an unofficial industry term used to describe the kind of windows many construction companies tend to prefer: Cheap and just enough to satisfy local building codes. Often by the bare minimum. On paper, if not in reality.

They're the kind of windows that get installed by someone looking to cut costs wherever they can without concern for the long-term effects of cheaping out on such a critical part of a home's exterior.

Builder grade windows are often prone to failure, leaks, and other issues over time. That's why it's important to go beyond 'builder grade' to get impact windows that are built to last and installed to perfection!

Get started on your window replacement with a team of experienced pros who don't settle for 'builder grade'! Reach out to Karoly Windows & Doors today:

With the formation of a tropical storm in the Gulf, a lot of Floridians have been eyeing the coastline, wondering if Isaias was going to head towards Tampa.

While the initial movement of the eye of the storm was taking it on a path to cross over the panhandle, reporting from AccuWeather shows that the storm is slated to turn north towards Alabama and is expected to make landfall somewhere between Panama City, Fl and the State of Louisiana. The storm is projected to reach Category 2 status by the time it makes landfall.

Although the storm will not make a direct impact on Tampa Bay, heavy winds and rain are expected throughout the week as Isaias moves northward. Residents near the projected path of the eye should take basic precautions to reduce wind and water damage, such as boarding up any non-impact windows, setting up sandbags or other water barriers near doorways, and moving eletronics and furniture away from the ground floor of their homes.

What is Turtle Glass? It's a specialized type of glass designed to comply with local wildlife protection regulations like the Model Sea Turtle Lighting Ordinance.

The premise is this: When sea turtle hatchlings first emerge from their eggs on the coastline, they instinctively move for bright lights on the horizon. However, if the first bright light they see belongs to a house, the hatchling crawls inland rather than seaward. This makes them more vulnerable to predation, exhaustion, and dehydration as it keeps them from going straight into the ocean.

Turtle Glass helps block the strongest lights, reducing the risk of baby sea turtles orienting on your home when they hatch. This helps with sea turtle (and other wildlife) conservation efforts.

10/01/2026

Are pocket replacement windows a good fit for your home? The act of putting new windows inside your existing frames helps preserve the appearance of historic homes, but it's not always the best solution.

For example, if there are issues with your existing window's frame, such as wood rot, air leaks between it and the wall, or anything else, then inserting a new window inside the old frame won't fix those problems. Additionally, a pocketed replacement window is necessarily smaller than your existing windows, which means reducing your total viewing area.

However, pocket replacement windows do tend to be slightly lower cost than full frame window replacement services.

Need help determining if pocket window replacement or full frame window replacement is best for your home? Reach out to Karoly Windows & Doors to get a free in-person consultation and assessment.
