π₯π₯π₯ Has your Florida County dropped your burn ban yet? Let us know in the comments. I think both Lake and Polk are ready to make biochar this weekend. π₯π₯π₯ Driving around the State, from Vero up to Ormond Beach, Crystal River to Gainesville I see those burn piles getting bigger out there in the pastures. There is no better use for that material than making biochar. Biochar is Permanent Soil Carbon. Forever. Lifetime upon lifetime. 100,000,000 year half-life. The stability of this material is incomprehensible.
π§π§π§ Now lets mention the benefits, which are very simular to a temporary compost addition. Increased water holding capacity, 15,000 gallons of water for every 1% carbon in the soil per acre. LESS IRRIGATION WATER NEEDED! π§π§π§
π¦ π¦ π¦ 2x more microorganism diversity and 70% more beneficial microbes when the biochar is applied preinoculated. GROW A SOIL FOOD WEB!π¦ π¦ π¦
Biochar fixes Florida's lost fertilizer problem after every summer storm. Both cation and anion exchange capacity are increased substantially. 1% biochar in a mature soil boosts CEC 10 points and AEC 5 points. This holds expensive fertilizers in place until the plants are ready to use it. NO MORE SENDING YOUR COSTLY PLANT NUTRITION DOWN THE RIVER. πππ
The studies say increased yields, better gains in sandy soils and even better results when preinoculated or composted before application. π³π³π³π³π³π³
We have kilns available today. 50 gallon and 100 gallon inverted pyramid kilns. π°420 & 600π°. These are flame-cap style biochar kilns made locally from mild steel and are the easiest and quickest way to making a substantial quantity of biochar for your gardens. The kilns are heavy duty tools for the farm or homestead. The inverted pyramid kilns have a 5 to 1 conversion ratio so expect to burn 500 gallons of dry brushy wood waste to make 100 gallons of permanent biochar ($500-1000 value). Fires burn fast and hot, you can make a full kiln of biochar in 2 hours. π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯
