For those who don’t understand …..
📸 Maybe now you’ll understand why I take pictures of EVERYTHING.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately…
Why do I take so many pictures?
Why do I love old 80’s music, movies and clothes so much?
Why can one song take me right back to a specific moment in my life?
Why do I find myself replaying memories over and over again?
I think it’s because I’ve experienced a lot of loss. ❤️🩹
I’ve lost people I loved. I’ve lost pieces of different seasons of my life. I’ve watched people, relationships, places and chapters change or disappear. And as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized just how quickly life can take something you thought would always be there.
So I take the picture.
Even when everyone else is saying, “Why are you taking a picture of that?” 😂📸
Because I want to remember.
I want to remember the way someone smiled.
The sound of everyone laughing.
The messy kitchen.
The random Tuesday.
The family gatherings.
The little moments that nobody thought were important at the time.
Because sometimes those are the moments that become priceless later.
And the 80’s? 🎶📼❤️
Maybe I love them so much because they take me somewhere.
The music… the movies… the clothes… the big hair… the simpler feeling of being young. One song can put me right back in a bedroom, a car, a school hallway, a family gathering—back to a version of myself that I can’t physically go back to.
And maybe that’s why I replay my memories so much.
I’m not trying to live in the past.
I’m trying to hold onto the parts of my past that made me who I am.
Because when you’ve experienced loss, you learn that memories are precious.
You learn to appreciate the picture.
The video.
The song.
The smell.
The silly story everyone has heard a hundred times.
The ordinary Tuesday that you didn’t realize would someday be something you’d miss. 🥹
So yes… I’m going to keep taking the pictures. 📸
I’m going to keep listening to my 80’s music. 🎶
I’m going to keep watching those old movies. 🎬
I’m going to keep loving the clothes and the nostalgia. 😂
And I’m going to keep going back through my memories whenever my heart needs to.
Because I’ve learned something through all the loss:
You can’t stop time.
You can’t keep everyone forever.
But you can treasure what you were blessed enough to have.
And maybe that’s what all those pictures really are…
little pieces of a life I never want to forget. ❤️
