Some quality-control inspectors bring clipboards. Ours arrived with a scruffy beard, four tiny paws and some very strong opinions.

INTRODUCING JIMOTHY-PROOF LVP FLOORING™, a highly scientific flooring classification we invented approximately five minutes ago.

Many LVP floors claim to be pet-proof, kid-proof, life-proof and waterproof. Impressive—but can they withstand one wonderfully round internet raccoon conducting mysterious activities?

The joke raises a serious point: plenty of questionable LVP hides behind clever names, enormous warranties and impressive-looking numbers.

Here’s something most flooring stores won’t tell you:

A thicker wear layer can, but does not automatically, mean better scratch resistance. Wear-layer thickness tells you how much protective material covers the printed design—not how difficult the surface is to scratch. The top finish, often reinforced with hard minerals such as aluminum oxide, takes the first hit from claws, grit, chairs and everyday chaos.

Some homes need more than “just new flooring.”

For Amy, this project wasn’t only about choosing a beautiful floor. Because of serious health sensitivities, the products, preparation, and installation process all mattered.

So we listened carefully, researched thoughtfully, and built the flooring system around the needs of the home and the people living in it.
