“Family Portrait Safari”

YES, IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR when we are booking “PORTRAITS IN THE LEAVES” family sessions. AUTUMN IS the most sought after time of the year to have portraits created.

So, what's a “FAMILY PORTRAIT SAFARI” you might ask? Well, in addition to having your beautiful family portrait created to enhance your home and office decor, as well as offer an assortment of family gifts for the holidays, you will get to enjoy HOT CIDER, BOORDY WINE, ASSORTED WEGMANS CHEESE and HOME MADE AMISH DESERTS before, during and after your relaxing autumn session. These portrait sessions will be held at the beautiful (pet friendly) OREGON RIDGE PARK in Hunt Valley Maryland, so you get to include your pet as well in your portrait.
Our “Family Portrait Safari Event” will be held
Saturday Oct. 25th, & Sunday Oct 26th.
THESE ARE FULL SESSIONS, ONLY 5 SLOTS ARE AVAILABLE EACH DAY.

We also have our normal time slots available during October as well, however they are VERY LIMITED due to the small window of time and unpredictability of when leaves change color, and of course weather conditions. One good storm and the leaves can all but disappear.

The horse that keeps on giving... I photographed a series of images of Grady on the eve of his passing. The more I study his figure in the photographs I took of him, the more inspiration Grady gives me as an artist. Whether it was the joy and love that he stirred in the people that knew him, or the inspiration he has given me in my photographs, Grady is truly a horse that keeps on giving...!!!

There is something to be said for being in the right place at the right time. I've always wanted to photograph a horse in full gallop. It's an image I've wanted to capture my entire career as a photographer. I never made a serious effort to do so. I have taken many photographs of horses over the years, but they were never exactly what I wanted. Whether it was the angle of the body, the grace in the body language, or flurry to the mane and tale, there was always something missing. Finally I got my photograph of a galloping horse.

Sadly, as I was putting the final touches on this artist rendition of this beautiful horse and while trying to come up with a title, I called Amazing Grace Equestrian Center where I photographed the horse to find out his name. I was told the horses name was Grady, and he had passed away the next day after I took his photograph. The owner of Amazing Grace told me how touched she was by the photograph and how it captures the memories she had of the horse running carefree in the pasture. The title I'm giving this cherished composition is "The Grace of Grady." In memory of a Grady, who was loved by many...!!!

I've photographed the awesome roots of this tree many times over the years at one of my favorite portrait locations, Loch Raven Reservoir. This time I nestled a model into the folds of the root where it had grown around a huge bolder. I created this portrait during an on location workshop that consisted students from several of my basic photography classes that I held this summer. It is titled "Dreaming Aphrodite".

Jordan was a great model to work with. She chose this Desaturated Toned Black & White rendition as one of her favorite shots. Her second favorite was the very last shot we took that day just as the wind started to kick up pressing her hair behind her like a fashion studio wind machine. And finally the last color rendition classic is always popular with the girls.
