The big reveal! 🎉

Remember the sneak peek from my sewing room? Here’s what those vintage woven place mats turned into: two little crossbody bags! 👜✨

I left the fringe on for fun and added copper studs for a little sparkle. Each bag has a long strap, a magnetic snap closure, and a lining made from a beautiful recycled turquoise scarf. Thank you to everyone who took a guess! 💛

Off to college, wrapped in memories. 💙❤️

Another memory quilt is headed home, and this one makes my heart happy! 🥹

A mom sent me a big pile of her son’s favorite T-shirts and keepsakes so he could take a piece of his childhood with him to college. Thomas the Train, a sweet little firetruck with button wheels, Spider-Man, Yosemite, Hilton Head, Camp Car 2023, and plenty of car shirts for the gearhead in the family. Every block tells a little piece of his story.

She chose to add a red border and a charcoal minky edge, and I love how it frames all those memories. It’s now boxed up and on its way via FedEx. 📦

I’ve been making memory quilts and bears for close to 20 years, and I never get tired of the moment a client opens the box. 🧵

Playing in the sewing room! 🧵✨

Here’s a little sneak peek at something new on my table. I found two vintage woven place mats with the most wonderful Southwestern patterns: sunbursts, steer skulls, and zigzag mountains in mustard, mauve, and turquoise. I couldn’t resist adding some square copper studs to give them a little extra something.

Then I paired them with a gorgeous recycled scarf in the loveliest shade of turquoise, plus a strip of fabric that will be part of the finished piece. Don’t those colors just sing together?

I’m not telling what it becomes just yet. 😉 Stay tuned, because I’ll share the finished item in a follow-up post!

Getting your memory quilt home to you 📦💛

This is my own quilt, made from my mother in-law's aprons, all packed up and ready to go. It’s how I treat every quilt that leaves my studio: with care, and like it’s one of my own.

Once your quilt is finished and everything’s squared away, I pack it up and send it on its way via FedEx. You’ll get a tracking number so you can follow along until it’s at your door.

Here’s the part I love: RETURN SHIPPING IS FREE ANYWHERE IN THE USA, including our military families at APO/FPO/DPO addresses. Your memories should find their way home to you, wherever you’re stationed. 🇺🇸

Shipping outside the US isn’t free, but I’m happy to work out the best option with you. Just send me a message!

Heading home! 📦❤️

This memory quilt is packed up and on its way to its new home, and I couldn’t let it leave without a little show-and-tell.

Every shirt on this quilt tells a story: nursing school reunions, a Sedona girls’ trip, a Beatles tee, concert shirts, a dragon boat race, a retirement shirt that says “Not my problem anymore” (my favorite!), and so much more. It was an honor to stitch all those memories together.

The client chose a cozy minky backing and a 2" minky border in a bold red that frames all those colors beautifully. It’s as soft to snuggle under as it is fun to look at.

This little guy started out as a well-loved shirt and jeans. 💛

Before the bear 🐻

This well-loved hunting shirt came to me recently. You can see the story in it: the soft, faded canvas, the worn edges, the camo sleeves that have seen a lot of mornings outdoors.

It belonged to a favorite uncle who was taken from his family far too soon. His niece brought it to me with a special plan: to turn it into a memory bear for his wife, her sweet aunt.

The holes won’t make it into the bear, but the character will. The faded, lived-in fabric and the camo are what make it his, and I’ll make sure they shine.

It’s an honor to be trusted with something so precious. A bear like this holds a hug, a memory, and a little piece of someone dearly loved. 💛

I’ll share the finished bear once it’s safely in her arms.

Now that it’s officially been gifted, I can finally share this one! 🐄💛

I had the joy of creating this baby quilt with the very sweet Bonnie Baker Clinton for her soon-to-be-born grandson, and congratulations to Clinton too! And really, who doesn’t love baby highland cows? That big-eyed little guy in his bucket of sunflowers melts my heart and wait until you spot the tiny cowboy and ball cap cutie in the corners! 🌻🦋

Soft, flowing quilting wraps every inch, and the backing and binding are baby blue minky, so it’s as snuggly as it is adorable. 💙 It’s such an honor to help turn a grandmother’s love into something her grandbaby can cuddle for years to come.
