So pleased to see this little laundry room featured in House Beautiful online last week!

We carved it out of a closet so the homeowners could have an upstairs laundry room—a very practical addition for a young family.

The eaves gave us some tricky angles to work with. Carrying the wallpaper across the walls and up into those slopes brought everything together and gave this small space so much charm. I’ve always felt that the hardworking rooms deserve to be pretty, too.

A room can have beautiful pieces and still feel like something is missing. The difference often comes down to the details that bring everything together: layered lighting, thoughtful styling, the right scale, and elements that add warmth and character.

Here are a few ways to create a space that feels more intentional, collected, and complete.

There’s something special about a space that thoughtfully blends the classic with the unexpected. I love incorporating traditional elements that give a room a sense of history and character. From there, I layer in fresh details, modern touches, and personal pieces.

For me, the most beautiful interiors are never about following one particular style. They are about finding the right balance between old and new to create a home that feels collected, inviting, and truly reflective of the people who live there.

The architecture in this home by has a wonderful story to tell.

Every home tells a story, and every project begins with a thoughtful collaboration.

For our first Meet the Homeowner feature, we’re sharing a Cape Dutch-inspired back porch designed to reflect the homeowners’ lifestyle, their love of entertaining, and their connection to the surrounding landscape.

Thank you for following along!

The your favorite things don’t need an occasion. It needs Friday with your family.

Monogrammed linens, special plates, garden flowers — set for a family dinner, not a dinner party. This is the whole philosophy: the pieces you love should earn their keep, not sit in a cabinet waiting for permission.

Set your table like it matters. It does.💙

Happy Fourth of July weekend!! Seen here are a few red, white and blue rooms over the few years. Included here are photos of my own house, a house I did in Locust Valley that appeared in and two different homes in Mill Neck, NY ❤️❤️❤️

Have a wonderful weekend!

Intentional design is all in the details. ✨

How a space is scaled, lit, layered, and ultimately lived in. It’s the choices you might not notice at first but that gently define how a room feels and functions.

Some spaces ask for a little decorating.

And some spaces ask for a full theatrical moment.

Throwback to our 2020 Showhouse at Caumsett State Park, benefitting the Caumsett Foundation, where we transformed this stair hall with the most beautiful scenic wallpaper. What began as a lovely but quiet passage became something far more memorable — a layered, leafy, slightly magical ascent.

I’ve always thought wallpaper is one of the great secret weapons in design. It can soften architecture, add depth, distract from awkward walls, and turn the “in-between” spaces into the ones people remember most.

Swipe for the before, the install gymnastics, and the after.

Proof that a stair wall is never just a stair wall.

Proof that traditional rooms do not have to whisper.

A green velvet sofa, a cobalt blue cocktail table, a little blue-and-white, a few tigers, plenty of books, and suddenly the family room has a pulse.

Design tip: when using bold color, repeat it in smaller doses around the room so it feels intentional—not like one very enthusiastic piece of furniture wandered in alone.

Would you do a green sofa?
