Increasing public art in rural Iowa + helping make small-town holiday magic? Count me in! 🫶🏻

When I heard about this opportunity from West Union, I didn’t hesitate. Immediately, yes.

It took me a few days to decide on my design, but once I got that base coat down, it was smooth sailing.

This birdhouse as well as the others will be on display around West Union’s Main Street through July. The public will vote on their favorite via QR code and winners will be announced August 4th. They will then be auctioned off to the highest bidder. How cool is that?!

…to every single biker that I sent on their way back west assuring them that the ride back to Cambridge/Huxley/Slater is allllll downhill. Easy peasy. 🫣

That was a lie.

In fact, the entire ride from Cambridge to Huxley (literally, anywhere in Huxley) is uphill. Whoopsie 🤦🏼‍♀️

Today, in addition to that, it was into a 15 mph headwind straight out of the west 🫠

So, I apologize for all of the false hope I had previously given to riders leaving, hoping for a gentle, downhill coast back west. Now, I know better. 😬

What’s not a lie, nothing feels as good as sitting down & enjoying a nice cold beverage at either the halfway point and/or the end of a ride. 🍻🥂🥃🍹☕️🫖🧋

If you’re out and about hitting the trails this weekend, come hang out and have a few. I’ll tell you the story about how a skunk almost ruined this ride at the 3 mile mark (yes, really…the nature trail was really nature-ing this morning 🦨)
