Third grade feels…
like a turning point.
They’re not the littlest ones anymore,
but they still need someone to
zip their jacket when it’s cold.
They’ve learned to raise their hand,
stand in line, spell big words…
but they still look for
your face in the crowd.
Still need reminders.
Still need reassurance.
Still need to hear “you’re doing amazing.”
They’re growing fast…but not evenly.
Some days they act like teenagers,
other days they melt into tears
over the wrong color cup.
It’s confusing.
And they need adults
who remember that.
This is the year people start
expecting them to act older.
But please…
don’t forget how young they still are.
Don’t let your expectations
silence their wonder.
Don’t let the pressure
push out their joy.
They’re still little.
Still looking for gentle in a world
that’s rushing them to grow up.
Please don’t be another person who makes them feel like too much or not enough.
Because this age…
This messy, beautiful, in-between age…
Is shaping who they believe they are.
