Not all my projects turn out to be masterpieces. This purse is proof!
A couple weeks ago, I purchased a Minnie Mouse purse from American Classics Marketplace at Constitution and Academy. It read “Amanita Mushroom” 🍄 to me, so I bought it with the intention of transforming it into mushrooms, not Minnie.
I cut off the mouse head and bow, and tried to find a large mushroom patch to cover the spot. Alas, I was only able to find small ones, so I bought two packs, along with matching zipper pulls.
The patches arrived today, so I went to work attaching them to the red straps. Unfortunately, even though I used a pressing cloth, either the heat setting was too high or I held it on too long (directions said 20-30 seconds, so that’s what I did), because the strap melted!!!
In fact, the straps melted so bad that it stuck to the pressing cloth, which is now ruined as a result. They are melted (and hard) in several spots, so I tried to figure out how to salvage it instead of throwing it away.
I used some green Tulip fabric paint to draw some ivy and leaves. I couldn’t cover everything, but it’ll have to do.
I then cut out some ladybugs from some fabric I bought years ago (eventually for a blouse) and glued them to the white strap.
I cut off the Disney zipper pull and added the new ones. The paint should be dry soon, so I hope to take it to work tomorrow. I love how big and roomy it is—big enough to even carry several books and a journal!
All is not lost, thankfully! 🐞🍄🐞🍄🐞🍄
