If you’ve ever wondered where my love of color came from… this might be your answer. I’m back home in New Orleans this week, soaking up that one‑of‑a‑kind flavor that raised me—the music, the food, and the Mardi Gras energy that paints the whole city in technicolor. Every corner feels like a reminder that color isn’t just something you see… it’s something you feel. Being home reminds me exactly why I’ve never been afraid to turn the volume all the way up. Here are a few homes that feel the same.

Crystal skulls and creepy cloches — because nothing says Halloween DIY like trapping your own haunted geology under glass. In the past I’ve displayed my skulls with pumpkins and fall leaves. But this year? I decided on something spookier. Blood red flowers and mysterious butterflies, bring on the haunted glam! 💀

Years of experimenting with the same project means you learn what works. These crystal skulls are no exception — they get better every fall.

Here’s a reminder of the recipe:
• Gather materials — a big pot, borax, boiling water, and the object you want to crystallize (skulls, ceramics, plaster, whatever fits).
• Mix your solution — add 1 cup borax per quart of water, heat until fully dissolved.
• Remove from heat — once clear, take it off the burner.
• Submerge your object — gently lower your skull or item into the solution.
• Let the magic happen — leave it 12–24 hours as the water cools and crystals grow. Longer soak = more crystals.
• Release stuck pieces — if it’s stuck to the pot, add a little heat to loosen.
• Dry + display — set on a towel to dry completely.
• Optional sealing — acrylic sealant keeps them longer, but I usually leave mine raw and dissolve them after Halloween.

New door, fresh fall decor, and a whole new vibe at the entry. Loving how warm and welcoming everything feels now. 🍂🍁🎃 ...

Every year I make DIY crystal skulls because… why wouldn’t I want my house sprinkled with spooky geology. It’s absurdly easy, wildly satisfying, and yes — you can crystallize basically anything that is pores, doesn’t float, and will sit still long enough. Natural skulls I find on hikes, glazed ceramics, plaster pieces — they all turn into glittering Halloween relics with one magic potion: borax + boiling water + patience. Here’s how I do it!

With the help of my favorite contractor 🔨Home Solutions Of Sumter
I have finally made a big change.

I’ve been waiting almost a decade to tackle this door project—partly because door units cost a small fortune, and partly because I had to figure out exactly the vibe I wanted. In the end, I kept a similar layout with this Steves and Sons door from The Home Depot … just upgraded it to more sunshine☀️

The extra light is everything, and my beautiful new Baldwin Hardware keyless entry means I’m no longer sprinting to the door every time the kids show up.

Ten years later, I’m VERY glad I finally pulled the trigger on this one.

I filmed Chuck unloading my thrift haul earlier this week, and when I heard this audio I had to stitch the two together. This man loves the camera a little too much sometimes or maybe he wants to make me laugh too much, but the sentiment stands — I chose right. He is kind, thoughtful, and cheers me on in every wild endeavor I chase. He’s my best friend, my true, and he lifts heavy things with Olympic‑level enthusiasm. Truly… what more could a girl ask for?

Expensive decisions are extra hard … especially when they involve the FRONT DOOR. So let’s crowdsource this chaos. What would you do — tried and true or something new? I’m taking notes…📝

Sometimes the thrift store gives you the perfect piece in a totally wrong outfit. The art was fabulous, the mat and frame were not, so we brought her home, raided my stash, and pulled off a complete budget‑friendly makeover!
