Let me introduce you to Mrs. Curvey, a piece that has undergone a transformative journey. Initially, its condition presented a challenge, but instead of giving up, we saw potential waiting to be unlocked. The metallic spray paint's glitter finish had deeply etched itself into the wood grain, posing a daunting task, yet my client's vision sparked a creative solution. Although a light finish was the original aspiration, we discovered a darker hue would not only work better but also enhance the overall aesthetic in the guest room. I removed the old base and added feet to give it a modern update and I'm thrilled we preserved the original Hepplewhite hardware, a testament to its timeless elegance.

The one time I wish the DIYer I bought this from would have used primer 😵‍💫 metallic pink spray paint!! And my client wants it restored to natural wood. Glitter in every nook and cranny. 🫣😡😓 2 rounds of stripper on the drawers then cleaned with mineral spirits and scrubbed with acetone and I got most of the drawers cleaned. Ugh every instinct says just paint it and move on but I guess I love a challenge 😂. Broken veneer, drawer nailed together, and glitter galore!! Let’s do this!!! 💪

My latest project 💕 this was a commission piece I found for a client. When I went to get it the seller had the top covered with brass fixtures he was also selling. I inspected the whole piece and saw it was solid. I brought it home and realized I didn’t check the top. It was laminate 😵‍💫 we really wanted a stained top and painted base. I decided to do a faux wood top. Then as I was sanding for paint got squirrelly with the sander I decided to stain the base. Now I have to get a stained pine base to match a faux wood top with paint. What was I thinking 🫣 well 5 days later it was finally finished. It was a lot but I am pleased with the results! My client hasn’t seen it in person yet but loves it so far and that is truly why I do what I do. Taking old outdated stuff people don’t want anymore and bringing it back to life. 🥰

UPDATE!
After some feedback from the MCM COMMUNITY I decided not to leave the two toned wood. It wasn’t originally designed that way and I want to restore this to her original glory. I brought it back in the workshop and added a finishing toner to the oak areas to get the colors more cohesive. Hope you like it!

It is finished!! I have had the beautiful Mid Century Modern Bassett dresser for quite some time now. I was really excited to get to work on it and got defeated by the amount of veneer repair, and a manufacture finish that did not want to come off 😵‍💫 after weeks of work She is finally finished. This is a real beauty and I hope I did her justice on this restoration. I wanted to embrace the 2 wood types and left the oak with a light stain to highlight the grain. The manufacturer finish had a brown finish over it originally.

My latest project! My neighbor gave me these when she moved, and these night stands had an uneven diy paint job as well as a mahogany factory finish underneath the paint. After stripping I found nice veneer under the finish! I decided to do a weathered grey gel stain and mixed it with a walnut and top coat on the final coat to warm it up a bit. After stripping with Kleen strip I used acetone to remove the factory mahogany finish, messy but it melted off like butter. I went through and entire roll of shop towels and like 10 pairs of gloves but it was worth it! I happened to have 4 of these 4 inch handles on hand so I didn’t really need to purchase much for this flip. I decided to keep them and refinish our bedroom set. Before is at the end! Hope you like!

Finished!! The before pics are at the end!! This was a time consuming process from start to finish, there were a lot of scratches and damage to repair, but the end result was worth it! These are commission pieces for a neighbor who wanted black and gold and trusted me with the rest of the process. Don’t mind my messy garage 🫣
