1976-2026

50 years ago today, at the age of 22, I decided to start a business repairing and refinishing furniture after working for someone else for 6 years when “I knew it all”.
I worked for a refinisher during the day and an upholsterer at night to learn both trades.
I still enjoy going to work on Monday mornings and getting paid for a hobby instead of a job.
Thanks to everyone that has supported me over the years and don’t think I’m retiring because it’s still fun and I don’t have any plans on giving this up.

This is a Bamana (Bambara) male Ci Wara (or Chiwara) antelope headdress from Mali, West Africa.
It is a traditional carved wooden headdress, often part of a pair (male and female), used in agricultural rituals and dances by the Bamana people.
Ci Wara means "working wild animal" and represents a mythical half-human, half-antelope being credited with introducing agriculture to the Bamana.
The headdress is worn by skilled male dancers with a full raffia fiber costume during planting and harvesting seasons to honor the spirit and encourage a good harvest.
The zigzag pattern on the neck represents the path of a running antelope, while the tall horns symbolize stalks of grain.
The headdress combines features of several animals, including the antelope, aardvark, and pangolin, all significant in Bamana culture.

We had the pleasure of repairing several pieces broken off in the center. Can’t imagine wearing this on my head and dancing.
