614 Knit Studio 614 Knit Studio is central Ohio's home for fiber arts classes and events - knitting, crocheting, spinning. Our focus in on community, education, and fun!

614 Knit Studio is a boutique yarn store featuring an ever-changing rotation of artisan and farm yarns. Open Stitch is available in the front sofa area during studio hours only. We offer dozens of classes each month in knitting, crochet, weaving, and spinning, as well as private lessons and "Doctor" sessions. Call or come in to register for a class or workshop.

Hello Kilter Knits, a brand new app developed by studio favorite designers, Tin Can Knits. I have to say, I added the app to my phone right away and started a new project, an Antler Hat that was perfect for giving this baby a test drive! Next I’ll be adding a pattern I already own and try it out again.

What makes a great pattern? Tin Can Knits sent out an email last week about their most made pattern. Can you guess what it is? You’re absolutely correct, it’s the Flax Sweater! With over 50,000 projects posted on Ravelry (which includes all three yarn gauges, Sock, DK and Worsted/ Aran weights), one would conclude that this pattern has it going on!

I, myself have made several, including a few that I took the liberty to change it a little bit including adding cables on the sleeve, making short sleeves, color blocking and more. Can we talk about sizes? This pattern goes from an infant size to 6xl! So you know there is a size for everyone! Anxious about creating your first sweater? How about making an infant one first? I think of this as a “hat with sleeves”. It would take no time at all to make one up and remember, this is a teaching pattern. There are links to tutorials and videos to help guide you along. I recommend using Tin Can Knits free app. Once you download the pattern and make a project page, you only see your chosen size so not to be confused with all the sizes included in this pattern. If you are still having a little trouble, we are here to help!

Did you know we have our own yarn, milled for us with Ohio sheep fleeces? Studio Dog Fibers.

These unqiue limited batch yarns are so special to us. Each year a new yarn is made and 100% special to that season, never to be repeated quite the same again.
