I swung into Urban Grinds Coffee Company to pumpkin spice up my life, then hit the Main Street Markets, Texas and made my way over to open Get Fictional’s doors for the day!

Come by and sniff the fall candles and grab a spooky book for the chilly weekend ahead 🎃🎃.

Apparently, the bookish-social-media-police are telling everyone that lists are out. Welllllll, they can pry them from my cold, dead hands, because I love seeing them just as much as I love creating them. And this is my page? Sooooo… here we go.

Sweatah Weathah has FINALLY arrived in Texas! (I’m half New Englander, and the accent comes out when those cooler temps hit). Here are some books that are in stock to read with the windows open and a candle lit!!

💀Nerve Endings by Kealan Patrick Burke: Kealan packs a punch with this collection of short stories. Broke my heart, but in the best way.
🕯️Pair this one with Read Before Sunrise: a blend of warm, fall spices and notes of a dewy forest.

🍁The October Country by Ray Bradbury: Another collection of short stories, but let’s throw it back. Y’all know Something Wicked This Way Comes and Fahrenheit 451…. Try Bradbury’s shorts. They’re perfect for this cozy weather.
🕯️October Country: this one has notes of caramel almonds, spices, and smoked amber.

👻The Haunting of Velkwood by Gwendolyn Kiste: childhood friendship, a haunted neighborhood, and confronting paranormal trauma… sounds like:

🏚️William by Mason Coile: Fast forward to the future where AI becomes an experiment gone wrong (not far from the truth). Think “haunted smart-home.”

We are getting our first cold front of the season today. It’s Friday. It’s October. And the The Historic Crighton Theatre and Stage - Right Theatre Company are performing Frankenstein this weekend. How perfect can one day get?

Frank’s monster here has masculine notes of cedar wood, pine embers, and frankincense.

The Black Flame Candle has notes of berries, citrus, spices, and hot cinnamon 🖤.

We watch Hocus Pocus every year! That, and a found footage horror movie marathon - I’ll never forget watching one for the first time with my son last year. I didn’t tell him it wasn’t real 🤣. He was both traumatized and had the time of his life. (Horror fans understand.)

Horror Movies & Chill, anyone?

Tis the season for scary movies! And we have the complete setup here… Blood-red popcorn kernels, salted caramel seasoning, vintage popcorn baggies, and a hand-poured soy candle to light on movie night!!

This little basket makes a great gift for horror lovers (or treat yourself! 💀).
