ZINN Brilliant

ZINN Brilliant Discover the sparkling beauty of tin ornaments made using the original molds from 1880.

We use techniques invented in the 1880s to create art that transforms the darkness of
winter into the dancing light of the Christmas season.

To bismuth or not to bismuth? That is the question.
But seriously, the holographic collection was born out of a want, nay, a need to achieve that cool bismuth look in the ornaments.
I was going to start my explanation with more snark and say "because then they would be bismuth ornaments, not tin ornaments" but I saved you from that suffering.

If I had a dollar for every craftsperson paying themselves less than $10/hour....I'd have more than $10 and it hasn't even been an hour.
I am also a big believer in the people with power and privilege leading by example, because that drives change.
Oh gosh I forgot to talk about tin prices! The pure, lead-free tin I use has almost doubled in price since I started, but my prices have stayed the same 🤣😵‍💫 that may change in the future, but for now we've been able to roll with that reality by getting more efficient. Yes I melted around $700 worth of tin in a matter of DAYS.
Also, the preorder for the collection, which is your chance to shop the entire collection in unlimited quantities and get sets of 3, will be ending June 1st (unless I chicken out and extend it a week). After that the shop will be moving to In Stock Only with weekly shop updates on Fridays at 6pm EST.

I believe it took Hannah like 6 hours to count all the final numbers.
June 1st, we will be working on building up stock for the year, so it won't be a total scarcity the whole time.
We are also bringing on a new employee in a couple weeks, which brings us to a team of five!
You all are amazing and I thank you so much for your support ❤️
In June I am excited to take a few days off and then start putting some time into making new molds.

Believe it or not, my biggest worry isn't about the ornaments falling off the tree. It's that they get tossed in with all the other Christmas ornaments in storage between seasons. For that reason, we pack them in individual boxes padded to the nines that you are meant to keep in order to store them between seasons. If you do this, they will stay shiny and perfect for decades or lifetimes.
Also, all dropped ornaments in this video got remelted. The tomato was eaten.

Preorder info!
Also, If you missed the part about requesting ornaments by a certain date when you ordered, you can always send me an email. Please do not DM me about it, it will make my head spin.
March was legitimately nuts as far as orders went, it was on par with November. Which is why I am so glad I don't give a hard deadline for the pre-order or I would not have slept all month (I also bought a house, which contributed enough to sleeplessness).
Did I answer this well enough? I'm at the point in the day where I'm not quite sure if I'm sounding like a poetic genius or a convoluted mess. Feel free to ask clarifying questions in the comments. I'll pin them if they're good.

The best part is I thought it was Wednesday but it's actually Thursday. I took yesterday off to garden so I guess time didn't exist. Other frequently asked questions I'll attempt to answer this week:
Why don't you make the ornaments out of bismuth?
How fragile are the ornaments?
What's the deal with the preorder?
More about the history of the ornaments?
Will Emilie remember she declared it FAQ week and post ANY OTHER VIDEOS OR JUST THIS ONE?

Any questions I missed? Vote for your most burning questions in the comments.

You may notice my studio looks different, YET AGAIN!
Well, the room I originally thought would be my studio was actually way too small so I moved down to the workshop in the basement. It needs some aesthetic upgrades (it is a basement after all), but it's a large enough space for me (and my brother!) to work in and hold the many tools that are required to make the ornaments.
Oh gosh I'm writing a caption that has nothing to do with the voiceover. Uhhh, how do you like to show up online? What do you think? Are there right and wrong ways?

04/20/2026

Did I have to switch out every tin and ten when I edited the captions? Yes bahahaha
The new official 10-year anniversary ornament is up!
For a more colorful option, we humbly suggest the love fish.
Also, don't come at me for saying disirregardless, it's another joke I say because irregardless is considered grammatically incorrect so I figured why not double down and say disirregardless instead.

Speaking of gardening and pulling weeds, I am covered in cuts from mitigating invasive multi-flora rose at the new house.
I should have internet soon, so you'll be seeing more regular posts from me.
How are you guys doing? I miss you.

Let's just say the theme of the month is picking up heavy things and putting them down somewhere else.
We will still be shipping ornaments all month and the shop will remain open!
Speaking of the shop, I am hoping to have ornaments stocked in the shop by mother's day, if you are planning to visit. Before then we are happy to show you the grab bag of ornaments that have been produced, but just know none are on display yet and some will not exist (side eyeing the poinsettia and the shooting stars) till we fulfill all the online preorders.
