Finally - Part 5 in my series on Things ever room needs that no one talks about. Scale!

Maybe the most important thing that the room needs. You have to match scale or the room will instantly feel off. You either underestimate it (the rug is too small or the art doesn't fill the wall) or overestimate it (the sectional takes up the entire room). Getting scale right can make the whole room feel at peace.

Have you enjoyed this series? Should I do more like it? Let me know in the comments.

Probably one of my favorite guest rooms we have designed. This is a room that you walk in and go "wow". The layers feel warm and rich - from the wallpaper, to the ceiling, to the chandelier. This is a guest room I would never want to leave.

The primary suite was all about tension - dark iron against crisp board and batten, rough stone beside soft linen. And that darker stained wood ceiling that brings everything together.

We blended traditional architectural details with my signature organic modern aesthetic to make a space that feels both grounded and effortlessly calm. When those elements find their balance, that's where the magic lives. 🤍

The prompt for this room was one word: hosting. Our client wanted a space for everyone to gather, for meals to linger, for no one to want to leave the table.

A few ways we accomplished that:
• A wall papered ceiling brings the space in, creating a cozy ambiance without making the room feel heavy
• A custom table with a Lazy Susan built into the center means everyone can stay seated and still be within reach
• The connected w**e room means even guests who sneak off for a top off aren't too far away

Reclaimed wood beams, a hand-chiseled stone fireplace, custom oak built-ins. Paired with a large sliding door that connects to a spacious pool and two custom hanging swings. This living room defines this home. European heart, California soul. It's the kind of space that feels like it has a hundred years of stories behind it, even though we built it from the ground up.

So honored to see our project featured in 🤍

This Southern California kitchen was designed to feel warm and collected - think reclaimed wood, brass, and marble that looks like it's been there for decades. Spanish Modern meets California living at its best.

Our project was inspired by the effortless charm of old-world Europe, reimagined through a California lens.

Soft curves. Natural materials. Handmade details. Pieces that feel collected and storied rather than perfectly staged.

Throughout the home, we leaned into craftsmanship and the beauty of imperfection - handmade tile with subtle variation, reclaimed wood ceiling beams that bring warmth and history, and marble that feels both timeless and quietly dramatic.

The result is a home that feels like it has always been here… just with a little California ease. 🤍

Part Two - The thing every room needs that no one talks about - LAYERS

Layers are what make a space feel truly lived in. They create the depth every room needs - not just visually, but in the way a space feels to be in.

And it's rarely about adding more furniture. It's about thoughtfully layering texture, materials, lighting, textiles, and personal pieces that tell a story. Those details bring warmth, character, and a sense that a home has evolved over time rather than appearing perfectly styled all at once.

That's the difference between a room that looks beautiful and one that feels like home.

Swipe to get some ideas on how you can add layers to your space or drop your questions below! I would love to answer them.
