This time last year we kicked off spring break with a quick layover in New York and an unforgettable stay at the inside of JFK airport… a total mid-century modern dream.
From the moment you walk in, it feels like stepping straight into the golden age of air travel. The iconic terminal, designed by legendary architect Eero Saarinen, is filled with swooping curves, retro lounges, and design details that make any design lover swoon. 🤩🤩🤩
One of my favorite moments? Cocktails on the Connie🍸 a restored 1958 aircraft that’s been transformed into a cocktail bar on the tarmac. Truly one of the coolest airport experiences EVER.
✈️ Fun facts about the TWA Hotel ✈️
1️⃣ The hotel lives inside the original 1962 TWA Flight Center, a landmark of mid-century architecture.
2️⃣“Connie” is one of the only Constellation airplanes left in the world and the only one turned into a cocktail lounge.
3️⃣ The rooftop pool overlooks the runway, so you can literally sip cocktails while watching planes take off… it was a bit chilly when we were there, so didn’t get that experience!
Safe to say… design inspiration was everywhere.
Now we’re gearing up for this year’s big adventure… guaranteed to be filled with just as much design inspo, culture, and gorgeous scenery.
🌍 Any guesses where we’re headed this time⁉️
