On August 14, 2019, 8-year-old Christian Moore was getting ready for his first day of second grade at Minneha Core Knowledge Elementary School in Wichita, Kansas. That morning, he noticed another 8-year-old student, Conner Crites, crying alone in a corner.
Conner had autism and had become separated from his personal aide. Because of his autism, he could sometimes become overwhelmed by too much noise and activity. Christian did not know any of this, but he saw that Conner was upset and decided to help.
Christian walked over to Conner, gently took his hand, and walked with him into the school. It was a simple act of kindness, but it meant a lot.
Christian’s mother, Courtney Moore, saw the moment and took a photograph. She later shared the picture on Facebook, where it quickly went viral. Many people were touched by the young boy’s kindness and willingness to help another child.
Conner’s mother, April Crites, was especially grateful. She thanked Christian for helping her son during a difficult moment.
The two boys also became close friends after that day. Their friendship continued, showing how one small act of kindness can create a lasting connection.
Conner later explained how Christian made him feel, saying, “He was kind to me... he helped me and I was happy.”
What began as one child simply helping another became a beautiful story about kindness, friendship, and caring for someone who needed a little help.
