I used to loathe sari silk fiber. Literally called it “Sari I bought it”. 😆 But I learned something this Tour de Fleece…don’t try and spin it by itself! When sparingly blended with other fibers, can add beautiful color and texture.
Also, pro tip: when blending using a drum carder or blending board, add the sari silk only after you have a few passes of other fibers on the cloth - otherwise the sari silk wants to stick to the cloth.

220 yards sport/dk of merino, tencel, silk, Romney, cotton, and sari silk.

How was your Tour de Fleece? Practice anything special?
Spinning long-draw was a big focus this tour - it’s a weak point I really need some practice on.

I did it for two full spins! This blend is a motley crew of merino, tencel, silk, Romney, cotton, and sari silk. I think that’s all of it!

Just about 220 yards of a sport/dk-ish weight 2-ply. 🧶

How is everyone’s spinning going this tour? My first skein in of the tour is all washed and dry. 150 yards of a 3-ply merino, spun long draw for extra squish!

I’ll be spinning into the Tour de France Femmes since I didn’t spin as much as I had hoped.

I love the night/day look of it!

Been giving each of my wheels some love this Tour de Fleece. After spinning two bobbins on my Ashford Kiwi, I realized the drive band was super loose - my fault for not taking it off when not in use, plus it’s seen six years of spinning. Anywho, Charlotte is out of commission for the rest of the tour, unfortunately.

But not before we spun two beautiful bobbins from the mini batts I made earlier. Merino, silk, cotton, tencel, and Romney. Practicing long-draw, much more practice needed. 😆
