So how did 3 sisters living in 3 separate states get started on this crazy journey of thrifting, antiquing and candle making did you ask? Well light a candle, pour out your beverage of choice, and settle in. Let us tell you the story of how Blame it on the Candle came to be.....
We LOVE candles. And just like most people, we would go to big-name box stores and smell candle upon candle until we had
20 to 50 of our favorites picked out. When those store-bought candles were gone we would do 1 of 2 things:
1. Throw away the unsustainable container it came in or,
2. Clean the container thoroughly and make big plans on how it could be used for something else while it sits in a box in the corner collecting dust until one day it gets donated/thrown away. Well, throwing them away started to REALLY get under our skin. We're by no means perfect on the recycling front but it just seemed wrong to continue to add to our landfills with more trash. And as women with kids, jobs, and lives it wasn't feasible to try to create a usable object out of every single candle jar. Enter our love for thrifting and antiques. SO many beautiful jars, mugs, glasses, cups, and other containers end up in thrift and antique shops just waiting for someone to find them and give them new life. As semi-full-time RV'ers, we travel all over the U.S and get to visit lots of different antique and thrift shops in different states. It struck us there was a way to bring our desire to improve our planet, all of these beautiful containers, and our love for candles and turn them into something everyone could love as much as we do. And with that, the idea to create candles in containers that can be reused without any effort was born! Through our travels, our containers have been lovingly scouted from thrift shops, antique stores, and estate sales throughout the world. We really hope you'll love them as much as we do!
