Welcome to Donkeys Bad A$$ BBQ's official page.
Jon and Michel Turner are no strangers to smoke, fire, or pressure. Long before competition trailers and turn-in boxes became part of their weekends, the Turner name was already woven into the fabric of Wakulla County. As owners of successful restaurants and businesses, they built their reputation the hard way—long hours, high standards, and an unshakable belief that if something was worth doing, it was worth doing right.
Food was never just business for Jon and Michel. It was community. It was culture. It was how stories were told and friendships were forged. Over the years, they found themselves drawn into local rib, pork, chili, and seafood gumbo competitions—not chasing trophies at first, but chasing flavor, fun, and the thrill that comes from putting your work up against the best around you. Wins came. Calls followed. And with each competition, so did new connections.
It was at these events that Jon, driven by a fiercely competitive spirit, began crossing paths with seasoned Pro BBQ teams. He studied their processes, listened to their stories, and quietly absorbed what it really meant to compete at the next level. Michel, steady and strategic, brought balance—an eye for consistency, ex*****on, and the bigger picture. Together, they didn’t just compete; they learned.
That learning sparked something bigger.
Before long, Jon and Michel weren’t just showing up to competitions—they were hosting them. Creating events that brought teams together, elevated the local BBQ scene, and reflected the same pride they poured into their businesses. The line between restaurateurs and pitmasters blurred, and by 2025, the next step was inevitable.
Donkeys Bad A$$ Competition BBQ Team was born.
The name fit. Bold. Unapologetic. A little rebellious—but rooted in hard work and respect for the craft.
Jumping straight into Florida BBQ Association competitions, Donkeys Bad A$$ BBQ didn’t ease their way in. They came out swinging. Right out of the gate, the team proved they belonged, earning multiple top-10 calls and turning heads across the circuit. Their flavor profiles were confident, their boxes clean, and their presence impossible to ignore.
At the core of it all was Jon’s relentless drive—always pushing, always refining, always hungry for the next call—paired with Michel’s calm focus and operational precision. Together, they formed a team built not just on smoke and spice, but on trust, experience, and a shared vision.
Donkeys Bad A$$ BBQ isn’t just another competition team. It’s the extension of two businessmen, two cooks, and two competitors who believe that great BBQ is earned—one cook, one call, and one long night by the pit at a time.
And in Florida, the donkeys have officially kicked the gate open 🔥
