Bergen County as it once was! This last-quarter of the 1800s, photo of a boy riding his goat cart in Rockleigh is a favorite (among my collection of 44,000 photos of historic sites in the New Jersey- New York area). In this picture, the rear of the Haring-Corning House (7 Rockleigh Road) is to the left. To the right is the barn and grainery/shed that was on the farm. Behind the boy is Piermont Road (laid out in 1859). In the distance (above the goat) is the Abraham A. Haring House (9 Piermont Road), and at the right of the house is the Dutch barn that was on the Haring farm. The farm field to the right of the Haring barn would become part of the county’s Rockleigh Golf Course in 1957. Tim Adriance
