Had a special request to open the shop this afternoon and had some nice decoy sales. Pipp and I are pushing forward on our Texas Decoy Show at the Civic Center on October 10. More on this as it develops. Also working on the 2026 World Championship Fiddlers' Festival which will be November 13 and 14 at The Ritz Theater. Meanwhile, Camp Street Blues with The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Sue Foley, Misty Blue, Texas Flood and many more is just two weeks away! Your Downtown Crockett Association never rests!

OH NO! The Grinch is trying to steal Crockett’s Christmas. He’s been spotted in downtown sneaking into local businesses. Help us track him down and be entered into win a prize!

Stop by the hot cocoa station to pick up the tracking sheet of the local businesses the Grinch was spotted in. Then, visit each business and find where the Grinch is hiding. Get a photo & check off the tracking sheet, then bring it back to the hot cocoa station to be entered in to win a prize!

Saturday morning we'll be back at the fabulous Ritz Theatre for the 2025 edition of The World Championship Fiddlers' Festival.

Registration of fiddlers begins at 9:00 am. At 10:00 will be the open ceremony with our special guest speakers and then it really gets going. With Lonnie Hunt as MC, this year's event is a sanctioned event of the Texas Old Time Fiddlers' Association (TOTFA). TOTFA will handle all of the registration and have assigned the judges for our event.

As with all TOTFA approved events, admission is free.

We will have 5 different T-shirt designs for sale with sizes ranging from M-2XL. Warning: There are twenty of each design so you might want to come early. We will also have special pinback buttons for sale.

Pictured below are the five belt buckles that will be awarded to the 1st place winners, including this year's World Champion. The buckle in the middle of the bottom row will be sold Saturday at silent auction at the Ritz. It is the only one to offered this year. Bidding starts at $5.00 with $5.00 bidding increments.

Little of this would be possible with the generous spirit of our donors who number well over 60 for this event. With donors from DFW to Houston as well as all over Houston County, we are blessed to be able to keep this tradition going. So come by Saturday, grab a program and be sure and thank the folks you see in the program. They made it happen once again.

And a huge thank you to Ann Walker and her crew at the Ritz for making it possible for us to hold this event in such a beautiful facility.

Tomorrow at Camp Street!

19th and next-to-last meeting for the World Championship Fiddlers Festival will be Tuesday, October 14 at 5:30 at Camp Street Cafe and Store, 215 S. 3rd St. See y'all "On Camp Street". All are welcome.

Friday night it all gets started with a performance by Western Swing Hall of Famers, Elana James and Hot Club of Cowtown at 8:00 pm at the Ritz Theatre. Ms. James has recorded with Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, and Bob Dylan to name just a few. She played fiddle for Dylan while touring with him for three years. It will be a terrific show! Tickets available at the door for the very special price of $10.00. Haven't seen the remodeled Ritz yet. This is a great opportunity to do just that.

Then Saturday will be The World Championship Fiddlers' Festival also at the Ritz. Its free and is a Texas Old Time Fiddlers Association sanctioned event. Great times in Crockett.

We are sorry that the steak cookoff had to be cancelled. Maybe next year.

This past week, the DCA/WCFF lined up our entertainment for Friday night, October 24th, at "The Ritz". Western swing trio that has performed all over the world and they're coming to Crockett for the two-day World Championship Fiddlers' Festival. They'll be perfect with the Steak Cookoff that same night. All in Downtown Crockett where it all started in 1937.

Want to be a sponsor? Just let us know as we're right in the middle of putting all that together. Remember this group of workers started with $0.00 in the bank account. If you want to see this continue beyond this year, they need your financial encouragement, too!

Attached is a photo from the 29th Annual WCFF from 1965 which featured Leon McAuliffe and the Cimarron Boys and special guests the Light Crust Doughboys. What a day that was for Crockett!
