❤️🤍💙 Some Quilts Tell a Story. Others Make a Statement.
The second quilt shared with us by QP family member Carol Kunkel deserves a post all its own.
Entitled "Unfinished," this powerful and thought-provoking quilt commemorates America's 250th anniversary while reminding us that, 250 years later, the journey toward equality and women's rights remains unfinished.
Every element tells part of the story:
🇺🇸 13 columns represent the original thirteen colonies.
❤️ Red, the color of protest, symbolizes the ongoing fight for women's rights.
🧵 Red fabric pieces bear the names of women who have worked to advance women's rights throughout our nation's history. More names will be added as the story continues.
💙 Three boys' names represent Carol's grandsons — the next generation of leaders who she hopes will carry forward and ultimately finish the journey toward equality for women.
What makes this quilt so extraordinary is that its unfinished nature is part of its message. It's a work of art, a reflection on history, and a statement of hope for the future.
Thank you, Carol, for sharing something so personal, meaningful, and beautifully creative with your Quilting Parlour family.
This is the power of quilting — telling stories, preserving history, and giving a voice to the things that matter. ❤️
